My guy nailed the tune, first try and man this thing is wicked! The truck drives SO much nicer and is just better all around.. The shifts are nice and clean and the lockup works perfectly.. I can't wait to get this thing to the track! I think the only struggle will be getting it to hook now
Overall, I am VERY happy!

Test and tune is coming up! April 2nd is the first time out for me so we'll see what she'll do! Am I crazy hoping for 12.5s with traction?

I love it... It's technically not my daily driver but IMO it certainly could be.. With my s10 being ~3000 lbs (and 3.73 rear gear), it starts to roll right around 2000rpm.. Driving around, it stays around 2500-3000 with light throttle and normal driving.
The lockup is a must have is your cruising any highways.. once it locks up, you can cruise 55-60mph around 2k rpm.
It made a huge difference as far as performance! Mash it, it flashes to 4k and you're gone haha!
This is just my personal opinion, you may have different results based on the weight of the car and rear gear selection..

Is the truck your daily?

That sounds like a very similar setup! I'm sure the converter along with gears will be a great combination.. As you can see by my times, it made a huge difference for me.. I love it and I don't think I would've been happy with any lower stall..

It's not my daily, but I drive it quite a bit. I take it to work on nice days, which is a 90 mile round trip. However it's mostly a 60mph two lane highway trip. The goal was to build a mid 12 second truck that got 18-20mpgs and could drive anywhere.I was thinking a converter like yours, but at 3600 stall instead of 4000. Just to be a little more street friendly.
From my experience, I would go for it.. just make sure you get a lockup converter.. It sure makes a difference on the highway! And I'm sure it'll make a difference on the track! My truck was a different animal after the converter.
Also,
Do you have HP Tuners or have access to a good tuner?

Then again, that may not even happen depending on where your shifts are happening and what your rpm (fuel) cutoff is set at? Has it ever been changed from stock? If it's been raised slightly and the 700r4 is shifting properly, you may not have an issue at all!
Secondly, do you have an external tranny cooler (I may have missed this earlier in the thread)? This is a great safety measure for higher stalls..

The only issue that I could imagine is hitting the rev limiter... But that's a quick and easy change for a tuner..

1. Sounds like the rev limiter should be no problem for you!
2. I would highly recommend a large tranny cooler to keep that thing alive.. It will definitely help
3. No I haven't hit 12.5 yet but there were numerous things wrong with the truck when I hit 12.6s.. I had a mail order tune for a cam/stall setup that, I know now, wasn't even close.. It was good enough to run/drive ok but not ideal, by far...
So a little while back, I purchased HP Tuners for myself and started tuning it the way it should be.. Now with a wideband, I was able to dial in part throttle and WOT. I also worked alot with the tranny settings.. I see no reason I can't get 12.5, especially since that 12.6x run was on worn out drag radials..
