What wheel tire combo do I need so I can hook?
I have 315/35/17 M/T drag radials and 17 M/T E.T streets. Neither will hook for me and I can't get down the track. I have a 4100 lb. race weight and run high 700 rwhp and torque. Should I get 15" rears with a 275/50/15 or 275/60/15? Will I have any clearance issues (stock ride height)? If I get skinnies to match do I go 4 1/2" or 3 1/2"? Are the skinnies radials too? I really would like to hook well because I also have a transbrake which is useless right now. Should I run E.T. streets instead of the radials? Sorry for all the questions but I am just looking into all this. Thanks, Tom.

you wil probably need a 60 tall tire, my buddy had the exact same problem then went to a 60 tall 15" tire and he dead hooked so much it broke the stock 10 bolt, usually when people break there rearend they are pissed off....hell no he got out with the biggest smile on his face and laughed his *** off for days....now it has a 12 bolt and it dead hooks with 1.3x 60 fts

The suspension it has is a Midwest 9" rear with short torque arm, adj. lower control arms, panhard bar, Strange single adj shocks (front & rear). A guy on here is selling Weld Prostar wheels that are 15 x 10 with 7.5" backspacing (rear) and 15 x 3.5 1.75" backspacing (front). Will this setup work for me with the 60 series tires and clear (I'm at stock height)? Is the backspacing correct (I did not order the rear shortened)?

Are you cutting 1.7's with the front shocks adjusted for the track? I start the fronts soft, and I'll put QA1's to full soft if necessary. For the rears I start at a middle setting, and then will go a little softer but I don't like to put the rears at softer than 4/12.
If you are still spinning at a decent track, you could try lowering a 2 step to see if it's power related. you could go to a 275-60-15 too.
Your car is pretty heavy I'm thinking you should be able to hook on 26's.
