weight of stock front seats?
Hi,
I read the stock front seats are heavy, how much does each one weigh?
And how much does a lightweight racing seat usally weigh? (Obviously they vairy a bit).
I guess the aftermarket ones not being adjustable are less comfortable for longer trips?
I sometimes drive for 4/5 hours a day, so need them to be comfortable for the longer journeys too (I sometimes get uncomfortable in the stock seats after this sort of time........).
Will I hate racing seats, and should I stick with stock seats?
Your advise is appreciated.
Just trying to work out if the swap is worth it for me
Thanks for the help.......

If you get uncomfortable in the stock one's, you are gonna HATE a race seat.
I just yanked mine (my car is strictly race at this point) and I have power DS, and it was @ 35 LBS with tracking. So, while it is heavy, not worth it. My .02

Thanks again for your reply.
Although there's some weight to be saved, I guess lightweight seats aren't for me either then.
I keep looking for a hidden bag of ballast I can remove , but every bit of weight saving comes with a sacrifice I'm not prepared to pay.
I think I'll keep my fat pig as it is, stay comfey, and be a few tenths slower Thanks again......

I jus' put in my Summit Racing seats in. I tried weighing them but I think there is something up with my bathroom scale. I held the seat while I stood on the scale and subtracted my weight - I also made my girlfriend do the same thing. I took several weigh-ins and averaged them out. Here's what I got:
Stock Pas. Leather Seat: 41
Stock Driv. Leather Seat: 51
Summit Leather Seat: 39
So I saved approx. 14lbs
