Default Who is running a MSD 6010 box with a carb??

Like the title says who is using the MSD 6010 ignition box with their carburetor setup? I am wanting to try out a carb setup next year and just found out about this box. The main thing that has me interested is the ability to swap pills out for a new timing curve which would be amazing for changing the setup to spray nitrous, especially since you can modify the timing settings. It also has a built in two step which would eliminate buying a $200+ box just for that.

I don't like carrying around a laptop around and dealing with flashing the ecm, if this box is worth anything it would be a life saver.

You will find mixed reviews on this box. It's a decent setup but it's not a race box. With that said we are using one with my carbed ls1.

I plan to run one. And its better to use it with a laptop. Since the pills pull too much timing. And that box can be used with the efi set up too it says.

i love mine after i got it running it is great. We havent had any problems past first start up i apparently had a box with old software and had it reflashed and it worked well. i use it in my race car and it has gone 6.11@113 so far, off the 2 step, with the timing retard hooked up. i would use the laptop to work the box those pills arent worth ****.

But you also have Phil with you most of the time at the track with his laptop you lucky dog. lol I just kind of like the idea of being able to adjust the car myself on the fly.

I have a question for you guys running this box, can you program the pills or is the custom timing curves just saved directly to a laptop? If you have to have a laptop to change the timing to a custom curve I might as well just buy HpTuners and use it and reap the benefits of being able to data log what the entire car is doing...

When you use the laptop you don't have a pill in the box.

Hmm I was hoping to be able to save different settings to the pills. Looks like I may just be keeping my two step and ordering HpTuners sometime soon...

Yeah you can't reprogram the pills. You can save different setups to your laptop and then flash it at the track. I'm still playing with mine though.

Hopefully I can get Phil to go over my setup when I get back home next year.
