School me on Subframe Connectors
Hey,
I'm looking to pick up a set of subframe connectors for the car, probably Chromoly, and I'm looking for some purchasing advice.
Who makes good ones? and who should I stay away from? I'm leaning towards weld-on ones over bolts on also.
The car has a Vinicator cam in it with and LS6 intake right now to give you a general idea of my power range.
Thanks in advanced.

Boxed = Heavier, slightly stouter, takes up room
Tubular = Lighter, fine for most applications, can still fit turbo piping
Chromemoly = Lighter still, more expensive
Weld on > Bolt-on ( but make sure you do it right )
UMI and BMR are the main brands, and they make fine products. Other brands are fine too, and I've even seen home-made that work/look fine.
Need to know anything else?
FWIW, I have run BMR Mild-Steel Boxed, welded for 5 years now.

I have boxed weld-in sfc's from midwest chassis. They are out of the way from everything and dont hang below the car or have any kind of clearance issues. You will be fine either way.

I run Wolfe through the floor subframe connectors. These are the ultimate as far as subframe connectors go. More for race cars though. For your application I would go with burkhart or BMR tubular if you are concerned with ground clearance. If you dont know how to weld, have a reputable shop that does chassis fabrication install them.

The weld-on subframe connectors will definitely stiffen your chassis, which is critical at launch. Remember that your chassis is like a giant steel spring. When you launch the car, the first thing that happens is that your chassis absorbs the power from the launch (like compressing a spring), then the cars starts to move. The chassis is stiffened considerably by adding sfc's, so less power is absorbed by the chassis and the car reacts quicker.
The BMR Boxed Sub Frame Connectors (SFC001) are made from 2" x 2" mild steel tubing and cost $159.95.
The BMR Tubular SFC (SFC004) are made from 1-5/8" DOM steel tubing and cost $139.95.
I recommend the boxed version over the round tube version. They are a little heavier, but they provide better torsional resistance and lateral bending resistance. They provide enough additional rigidity to justify the extra $20.
Here is an installed image of the BMR Boxed Sub Frame Connector (SFC001):
If you like them, you can order direct from BMR (same price from BMR or distributors). We have them in stock in black hammertone or red.
