Best times with cammed M6 and 3.42's?
I know most go with gears on an M6 but I was just curious what guys with an M6 and stock 3.42's are running with cams or not. I am just getting the feel of my Z28 at the dragway and ran a 12.70 @113 last night 2.0 60ft 1/8 was 8.3 @ 88mph. I know I have plenty room for improvement so I was just looking for some times from better drivers.
I usually run it at the autocross on the weekends so I like to keep it a kinda "best of both worlds" if you konw what I mean. No gears or 12 bolt.
I did just recieve in the mail a new set of poly/rod LCA's from LG and a T2R differential that I will install this weekend.
Thanks
Derek

Thanks for the reply. I was beginnig to think nobody had 3.42's. That is an incredible time with only a 2.0 60ft. I guess that LG cam is the **** that everyone says it is. I just can't go that big on a daily driver. I am assuming this was with slicks though huh?

Two years ago I ran 12.28 at 116mph with stock heads, T1 cam, Mac headers, 17 inch drag radials, and a 2.0 60ft. My car dyno'd 390rwhp/380rwtq back then. I personally think my car was special, because I use to race cars on the street that ran 11's and they could not beat me on the street.

I ran 13.29 @ 106.7 with a blistering 2.2 60'. I was spinning almost all the way through 1st (I don't like to lift.) No bolt-ons, no free mods, stock shifter, 3.42's, 25,000 mile Goodyears, not even a lid or K&N, and it was my first time racing on an actual dragstrip. I was kinda surprised at myself.

Sounds like you run about the same times as me, though I've got a few more HP, but less tq (go figure, reverse your hp/tq, and you've got my numbers). I can't get a decent 60' with these gears, and my skill, and trying to keep from blowing up the rear. Best I ever get is like a high 2.0. Best time was a 12.66@113. The real killer of the 3.42s I think, is shifting at 6300-6400, I have to make the 3-4 shift literally like 60' before the finish, and the shift time, along with the motor falling out of the powerband are costing me at least a few tenths.
The T1/B1 definitely have potential, I know a guy who's gone 11.6@119 with a B1, and putting down almost the exact same numbers as me. So in my case, the car's ability is there, the driver's just happens to be absent

my best was a 12.63 @ 114. and the 1/8 was 8.28 @ 89. I have heads but the rear end is all stock. the 60' was a 2.096. the biggest problem i have is the f1 tires. they just don't cut it, but i'm not about to take a chance with slicks and stock rear end. We got ppl around here putting 4.10's and 4.56's in the stock 10 bolt w spec stg3 clutch and bfg's and trying to dump at 3500 rpm's it just doesn't last..i'd rather have a bit slower time for now then have to be switching gears every other weekend..

This isn't exactly what you asked but I ran a 12.574 @ 108.34 1/4 and a 8.04 @ 87.5 1/8 with stock internals with GMS MAF, Hpp3, SLP lid, Borla exhaust, shortie headers, and a Yank 2800 stall. Stock 3.23 rear end and on stock F-1's
