Drag Tires revisted.
My Welds are sold, along with my Hoosier Drag Slicks. My Bogarts should be here by the end of the week, so now I'm mulling over a DOT setup. The guy that I sold them to does not want the Hoosier slicks, and is facing the same decision.
What is the largest ET STREET/QTP Pro you can run, without beating the crap out of the fenderwells, and trimming? I was thinking about some Hoosier QTP's in a 27 X 11.5. I need a tall tire, due to running 4.10 gears and having a TH400. The demensions are only slightly smaller for contact patch, but I do lose 1 inch of diameter.
What to do???

27x11.5's you will run outta gear on a bigger shot. with the t56 in my car on the 27's with 4.10's my shift light was coming on before the end of the track trapping 132.
i have 28x13.5's now and i didnt have to do too much beating or cutting. took out the bump stop and hammered that in a little and then dented the front part of the inner fender. i need to trim the front part of the lower part of the fender/ground effects now to account for tire growth.
i dont think 27's will take you where you want to go....just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I have resigned myself to trimming. I sat down with the calculator, and even with a higher redline from the new heads and cam, I will be scraping the top of third.

i kinda cringed at the thought of it, but it wasnt too bad.
i have a th400 now with a 4000 stall and i couldnt imagine it on 27's, it would be squirley as hell!

I'm buying back the brand new Hoosiers on my Welds. I already did some fenderwell adjusting, but I will have to get a little more extensive for hard launches.
Luckily a local bought everything, and was never intending to keep the Hoosiers anyway.

The Bull
28 x 11.5 Hoosiers fit with minimal clearancing if the backspacing is good. Ran them on mine and they worked great. I can't say so much for the 28 x 10.5 Hoosier drags though. I thought they were crap.
