Default fox boy vs. f-body race weight?

A friend of mine has makes similar power than me and keeps getting me by .5 of a et at the track. Same 60' foot times same mph but he still beats me. All I can think is he's lighter. Now both cars are gutted and caged. I wiegh 3000 even with a half tank and he claims 2600. Now I don't know if I believe him or not but he's faster so somethings up. I'm starting to think I gotta get more weight out of my car but geez I'm kinda out of options now. Light wheels, no interior, no ac and really everything.

So my question is are those things really that light? I may build one I that's what it takes.

To run the same MPH and you be 400 pounds or so heavier, your making more power. I'd post up a slip and your mods and I bet someone here can point out what will help. It may not be weight. Could be gearing, or converter choice or how you race. Or maybe some more power.

My fox body is 2525# with out me and a half tank of gas. It is no secret that a lighter cars goes faster with the same power level.
So you need more power to keep up with his light car. Or start gutting it lol.

What are his 330' times compared to yours?

I'm betting that tells the race right there.

Until he starts paying for weight reduction mods, most cars I see are running between 2700-3000 depending on SPEC and safety equipment and if he gutted a good amount, either you pay for power or weight reduction and a 150 shot if done right is far cheaper then carbon fiber doors...

Yea I'm gutted, I'm going to look into a lexan rear window and other stuff. I'm already at the point I'm lost on what else to do for weight savings. Last night I was looking at cutting the trunk out and just laying down aluminum sheet metal.

People have done it, you can imagine how much metal is down there. PM JL-ws6 He cut a lot out of the car in prep for a spec chassis and I tried to pick up a bucket of scrap, well over 100 pounds. Definitly stuff you can do there.
