Default What does it take to break an Eaton?

I have a Moser 12bolt, Eaton Posi, 33 splines. What kinda torque or 60foots would I need to break this sucker? Obviously i'm not there yet, but I do plan on adding a TNT kit next spring. I seem to recall hearing they are not the strongest of Posi's.

I broke my HD Eaton on the 7th trip to the track. I'm internally stock and turning consistant 1.5x 60 fts. It came all apart on me. I switched to a spool. From what I've seen in here, they cant handle as much as you would think they should. Good luck.

I broke my eaton posi unit on the 1st pass at HRP. I took that sucker up to 5,000 rpms and dumped the clutch and BOOOOOM. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

This was with stock motor and macs. Moser 12 bolt with 33 spline alxes. <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" />

Now I have a spool and no worries. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

Good luck to ya. <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />

I suppose my hopes of using nitrous off the line will be short lived. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> I guess anything much past 1.6 60foots and they won't last?

many many many of the fast cars here run eaton posi units. do not be afraid of them. now are they as strong as the spool, no, but they are not glass.

I broke mine finally after a year hiatus from the track.I had probably over a 100 passes before that.60' have never been better than 2.0.I broke it on my second pass of the day.I didn't scatter it.It just spit out two teeth off each spider. The clutches still work. But there ain't much life left in her.She gets me to work for the time being.I'm gonna cheap out & install an SLP takeout torsion with 3.73's at the end of the month.I hope it lasts as long or longer than the stocker.(70K)
