Some summer time passes and a new best mph
I went to Hattiesburg Mississippi for some racing on Sunday.
My raceweight was around 3320-3330 I believe.
I ran full exhaust on the car and this is why it is heavier than on previous outings.
New mods include: Custom ram air setup, a bit higher shift points (around 6700, but I plan on trying 6800), and a new set of 26X10 ET Drags.
New Problems include: The ET Drags were improperly mounted by a local (reputable) Tire and Chassis shop. The bead on my right tire was off the lip of the rim by atleast 1.25". Secondly, the tires were slipping all over the rim I watched them slip all over the rim for atleast the first 4 runs.
I made six passes at damn near 120 mph on these mis-mounted tires.
Of 8 passes I ran the best 60' of the day when, in an effort to get the car to hook, I ran 3 times in 27 minutes.
On this third pass I ran a 1.53. The car remotely hooked.
Needless to say after noticing and fixing the tire the sixty foots still sucked. The car was simply spinning its way to high 1.5's. I Have some sorting out to do. Starting with remounting both tires and making sure they wont spin on the rim. And I think I'm going to add an SLP linelock too.
Passes include:
1.581
7.20@94.89
11.337@118.84
1.535
7.19@95.01
11.337@119.12 (3rd run in 27 minutes)
1.544 (fixed tire)
7.20@94.60
11.346@118.42
1.596
7.25@95.23
11.385@119.36 (New best mph in worse weather )
1.608
7.27@95.28
11.403@119.27

Mike,
When you get the tires remounted have them glued to the rims.
I had mine glued to the rims and they havn't slipped at all.
Call Vic at Fishers Automotive and ask him what type of glue he used, or just have him mount and glue the tires for you.
Congrats on the new best mph in the heat!
Looks like that new ram-air mod works huh?

Good deal mike. I like your new setup..that was a good idea..hehehe..we were figuring out how we could do it to steves car using the fog light holes on the long ride home. They use the plug sealant to glue the tires..just have them spread it around the bead and it should work.
Congrats on the MPH

Nice times, especially given the weather and your tire situation...
As far as gluing the tires to the wheels, that sounds all well and good, but how would you ever get them back off? I've never heard of anyone doing that before.

George,
The tire mounting machine had no problems breaking the bead on my old set of ET Drags that I had glued.

damn Mike, awesome MPH out of that auto ... up there with the M6's. I guess when I get down to a decent weight maybe I can get up to the low 120's and hold some honor for the M6's LOL
What is the ram air mod you did. E-mail me if you care to share

Great runs Mike!
The guy that weighed your car the other day said they need you to come back and give them more than a muffler shot.

Re: Some summer time passes and a new best mph
George,
As far as a mess on the wheel I guess that depends on how careful the person was applying the glue to the bead.
If any glue did drip on the wheel it has to be cleaned off quickly or it will leave a mess and will be hard to get off once it dries.

Re: Some summer time passes and a new best mph
Those are some sick ETs for the heat mike! Your car is running awsome despite the weather conditions. I'm looking to set some new best 60fts. with the little vigilante along with a best ET this fall with the new setup as long as these ET Streets hook for me. What tire/gear combo are you running nowadays? I'm looking into a wider tire (26x9 Hoosier Drag) because the ET Streets are not hooking well without good track prep and my ETs are suffering from it.
