Default ET Streets (11.5 vs 10.5)

This might not be your typical question. I recently had 11.5 ET Streets on 16" rims. With my stock converter, it would bog bad off the line with a 3-5 second dry burnout (spun bad without a burnout) and stalling it up to 1800 rpms. I just received some slightly used ET Streets on 16" rims, but they are 10.5. My question is ... how is the traction difference with only 1" reduced width? Also, I have added LTs, ORY and a used "Vig3200" (could be a Vig3600) converter. Should I start experimenting from my last point (stall to 1800 rpms)? I don't want to be surprised, in a bad way, when I launch. Thanks!

10.5" tires are plenty for that setup...

Probably take more than a 3 second burnout though

Everybody says the Vigs like to be flashed. You'll have to play around to find the "sweet spot", but I would try around 900 first, work my way up to about 3000 or so, and see where the 60's are best at. Plan on at least 3 trips to the track before you start cutting consistent 60's with the converter. After 6 trips to the track with my ST3500, I'm still dropping another hundreth or 2 off the 60's every night out, just now getting to where I know how to launch this sucker....

Converters rock, you'll love it

The 10.5 ET Street will be enough for your setup. I'm running them now and have cut a best of 1.57 60ft. on them with the same converter. When you add more power (cam/heads) then you will need bigger tires but i would do the suspension before you get to the cam and heads, big change in the launch.

I flash my 3200 Vigilante at 900-1000 rpms off the tree to get my best 60fts. If the car is spinning hard then do a little longer burnout and run the tire preassure around 16psi-17psi.

Thanks guys, I had no problems hooking. I was able to get a 1.74 60' by flashing it to 2800 rpms. I also got my best ET so far (12.89), this should drop with more practice and a "sea level" track.
