Default Launching and cut out help

Team:

I have lid/filter/exhaust cut out on my WS6 and I dynoed 8 more rwhp with cutout uncapped.

From your experience, what is the best way to launch a 6speed? Also, is quarter mile time any better with/without cutout?

Thanks,

Adnan K

With the cutout open you will run quicker, and have more HP.

The best way that I have found is to let of the clutch say medium fast and roll onto the gas to about 3/4 throttle - then punch it to the floor after a hair of a pause. That has netted me my best 60' so far of 2.059 on the stock Firehawk tires. That isn't fantastic or anything, but for street tires it isn't shabby. Also, I launched at around 2500rpm - anything less and I bog like crazy, anything more and I spin to bad. I need to get just a hair less bog and I should be in the 2.00 range and then I'll be getting ever so close to 12s. On street tires, an M6 can really be a PITA. It takes practice. Until last week I couldn't cut anything less than a 2.2, but now I can cut right around a 2.1 most of the time and sometimes even lower.

Also, on street tires you might want to try launching at normal tire pressures. I get my best times at 30psi, and anything les than 28 or 27 and I just spin like crazy. I think it is because the tires start to cup to much instead of flattening out.

Hope that sort of helps. I know "medium fast" doesn't make much sense but it basically means to just let off on it, do NOT dump it. If you dump the clutch you will either spin or bog terribly.

All you need to do is keep practicing. Seat time is the key to racing a M6 Hot Rod. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
