Weight reduction of small steering wheel and no air bag?
Well, I run a manual steering rack in the bird.
It is no longer daily driven.
Last weigh in was 3080
I yanked the a/c for 30.5 pounds
Stereo and misc wires for 14.5 pounds
I am guessing the best n/a weight I could be at is 3035.
I am purchasing a Sparco Evo seat shortly to replace my cloth drivers seat for more weight reduction.
Getting to my point <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
With the manual steering rack I have heard that it can be easier to turn the wheel with a smaller diameter steering wheel. I plan on yanking both air bags shortly.
If a smaller diameter steering wheel will improve the ability of turning and shed some more pounds I am interested.
Anyone have this?
Experience with this?
Brand suggestions?
Pics?
Thanks in advance

Just replace your steering wheel with a stock size one. You won't lose any noticable weight by giving yourself less input torque imo.

the stock steering wheel and airbag is 9 pounds minus your new smaller wheel. i have the manual rack with a tiny 13" wheel and its not bad at all. i can still palm it when im moving <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
by the way, the smaller the wheel, the harder to turn <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
heres a pic of my wheel

Thanks guys.
Rob, I actually really like that steering wheel, it looks very nice.
Where did ya get it?
Do you have a part number or web site?
