I am not 100% sure this is what my problem is but when we took my heads off we found I had been nickin the pistons with my intake valves due to milled heads, very agressive cam (223/.589/112), and 918 springs. On the dyno my car would start making great power up to 5.5k rpm then just stop making additional power above 370rwhp and stay completely flat all the way to 6,700rpm. Driving it at WOT I would fly from my 4400rpm stall to around 5,500rpm or so then it just felt like things slowed down, it still pulled but not nearly as hard and you could visibly see the tach slow down.
Again, not sure if valve float was for sure my problem but thats what we are guessing while it is currently being worked on. Either way valve float will usually show up on the dyno as either a drop/flatinging out of power or possibly getting choppy. Thats what I have been told.

Re: How to tell if your valves are floating? Ive never had it happen but if you look at the top of your valve stems and the wear mark that the rocker makes across it you can tell. If it is shaped like a butterfly, youve been floating. If its a normal even pattern, youre safe.
