Default Big street tires vs. smaller DRs

I know drag radials are far superior to street tires when it comes to traction, but I have 295 BFG street tires, and a left over set of 245 nitto DRs that aren't mounted. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with a situation like this. Because I know the compound of the DR is better, but is it enough to make up for the sheer width of the street tire?
