Default Where to position Rear tires?

Is there any benefit in locating the Rear end forward or back some from center of wheel well.
Tire growth is expected and therefore cutting or moving of material from the body will need to be done.

This would change the geometry.

OR are most of the cars just centered with in the wheel well?

I havent seen any benefits to moving the rear for or aft. I just center it with plumb bobs to the frame.

I looked into this, for fitting big tires. If you kick it too far back, you might need to get a longer driveshaft.

Buddy that works at a chassis shop in Arlington said that theoretically moving the rear more forward gives you less wheelbase like a mustang and should shovel the rear under the front and make it transfer better. Not to mention the little bit of weight that you are playing with back there moving the rear more foward will give you more weight in the back of the car. I tried it and it didn't do anything for me but this is what some people say.

Madman has tried it all, I am sure. We should probably listen to him.
