Default Slammed S10, Hooking questions

Hey guys, I am building a 96' S10 that has Beltech drop spindles/drop springs and a C notched rear frame and de-arched leafes out back. I am swapping the stock diff out with a moser 9".

I am running a 383LT1 that should be making upwards of 450hp when its done and hopefully 500 with new heads this summer.

my question is is this thing going to launch at all with this setup (it was dropped when i bought it)? i haven't had a chance to get it in the shop to measure what tire sizes i can run out back since it sits so low, I have heard conflicting advice, some say it will hook like crazy and some say it will never hook.. Who is right?

What would you guys do?...Thanks!

The leaf springs will be the problem - no way to adjust the instant center there. The front to rear weight bias of a truck also makes it hard to hook it up. Might need to actually add some ballast weights way out on the back. You may try some Caltrac bars on the springs and stuff the biggest, stickiest tire you can under there. If it was a four link, you would have adjustment, but with leaf springs, you have a bigger challenge.

I have a friend who has a S-10 @ supercharged at about 500HP this past summer he replaced the frame because he twisted up the old one beyond repair, He is using I think they call them slapper bars and he hooks up on the track but not on the street, I think he is running 10" DOT slicks.

The pinion angle can be corrected by using tapered shims. Call Calvert Racing and get a set of CalTrac bars and they will tell you how to set the pinion angle, for Drag Racing. Any other set-up is bullshit. Also get good adjustable shocks. As madman says QA1's for cost effectiveness, AFCO or Strange DA if yer rich.

Leaf spring suspension doesnt count you out for hooking, guys have been doing it for decades. I prefer the Caltracs setup if your sticking with the leaf spring, we have putting them on a LS1 heads/cam T56 S10. I think we are going to start carrying them now I get some old school traffic coming thru
