what will blow out first?
I have a question about reliability. What would I lose first my tranny or my rear end? My mods are in my sig and I only race and spray at the track which is not often so the car rarely takes a beating. I have the 12 bolt but I cant put it in for a long time so Im gonna start doing the tranny but I just wanted to know what would go first in my car? The 10 bolt is stock, thinking about getting it a girdle, and tranny was just rebuilt 2,000 miles ago.

uh.... im gonna say trans.. ive broken everything in the trans once.. planet and sun gears cracked, pump cracked, flexplate broke even... and ive just recently burnt up the racing clutches AGAIN!...
yet my stock 10 bolt, and the same 10 bolt i swapped 4.10s into myself, has lasted with the stock cover thru all the 1.6x 60fts.. lifting the tires, and all over 250 150 shot passes...

I think it's a coin toss, but depending on how you drive the car, there could be a better chance of the tranny failing. If your going wot from a roll and causing it to down shift all the time, the tranny isn't going to last. The tranny will also be the first to go if you don't have proper tuning. Both mine lasted into the 11s with 1.6 60s. I felt I was on limited time with the 10 bolt and I wanted 4.10s making it even weeker so I decided to do the rear end first. I also felt that the 10 bolt had the potential to do a lot more damage if it failed. I went with a Strange spooled 12 bolt. Now I'm not worried about running a stickier tire and doing wheelies. I'll probly just wait for the tranny to go before I upgrade it because from what I've read, it should go with out doing any more damage. It will be fun seeing how fast I can go with a stock tranny.

From hearing what a guy here local said...I would be more concerned with the rearend. When the rearend breaks it will more than likely take other things with it (IE: the transmission). You are more likely to do a lot more damage when the rearend goes out than when the tranny goes. If it were me, I would find the time to swap the 12 bolt in before dealing with the tranny.
