Default Hood clearance issues: Victor Jr. and 90/elbow

I have decided to go with a 90mm FAST TB on my build, and will be deciding on which elbow to run soon. The guy that I got my N2O system from stated that I should run a Wilson elbow, stating that he can get me a killer deal on a brand new one. I have also been PMing Aaron @ intakeelbows.com about one of his fabricated elbows as well. So the question is, Which one? Retaining wipers is a must, and I am confident I can with either, but I am curious what I need to do to be able to get a hood to close with the Wilson elbow. The TB is already here, (showed up at work today on the truck), and I already have the plate system and intake manifold.

Any suggestion? Can the stock hood be cut to clear and still shut? Would an SS hood maybe clear? Any body wanna make me a deal on a hood that will clear? I'll take it in red, is that is the case.

Thanks for the help guys, hopefully this project will come together soon.

I would do a few searches in the FI section and the external engine section.

I have pics of an Edelbrock intake with Aaron's elbow here: www.psj.ls1tech.com

A regular Wilson elbow will require you to run a cowl hood IMO.

Wilson elbow won't fit under a stock hood. You have to cut the rear cowl some too but can retain wipers.

You also need to fab up an adapter to run the FAST TB. Wilson is working on one, but wasn't released yet when I checked last month

the Vic is a little taller than the GMPP manifold, so that can cause some problems. Also, a 90mm elbow is significantly smaller than the 105mm elbow.

A cut down base on the elbow and things fit alot better.

You can fit under a stock hood with some cutting.

That's the responses I was looking for. I need to get back in touch with that guy and find out what the status is on the elbow, and what the 'killer deal' consists of. I was already considering cutting down the mounting base on the manifold and the elbow. I feel that this won't hurt things any, as far as loosing any plenum volume, because I will still have the elbow and Big Shot plate sandwiched in between.

y2khawk, can you give me an idea what needs to be done to the bottom of a stock Z28 hood in order to close? I really don't want to have to get a new hood if I don't have to, at least not yet.

Thanks for the responses guys, your input is always welcome.
