Do I need belts through the seat?
I have the stock seat in it and want to keep it for now. Do I need it to be modified for the 5pt harness to come through the head rest area?
And I got the sholder belts that wrap around the bar . Not bolted to the rear bar.
Is this legal. Or do I need to bolt it?

You can run the belts around the top or side of the seat, as long as the belts pass over your shoulder blade area and not around the side. My Nova has a stock seat and I have the belts coming over the top, as well as the crotch strap in front of the seat instead of through it. NHRA rules state with OEM seats this is okay.
Wrap-around belts on the crossbar are okay as well.

WOW, so they will be OK. The shoulder belts seem to slide off a bit. And there is a lot of room between the crotch strap and my crotch. It would fit tighter if there was a hole in the bottom of the seat. But I don't really want to cut it.

I know, as mine has the same thing, but I don't want to cut the stock seat. NHRA probably made this rule for Stock and Super Stock cars mostly so people wouldn't have to cut up original seats for the belts.

I would either use firebird seats or get holes put in the camaro seats if you inisist on using stock seats.
You can use wraparound belts but I would weld a small round tube or flat stock retainer so the belts cant slide off your shoulder if the seat mounts let go. If you look on Wolfe's web page you can see what I'm talking about on the back of their bolt-in bars for the belts. I like the wraparounds a little better, I'd rather have the load spread across two 3"wide belts on the rear crossbar then have everything concentrated on one little tab welded to the bar but thats just my opinion..

the belts are kinda usless if there not bolted to the bar or going through the seat, esp on stock seats, up here they make you put them thru the seat ,and they must be secured to bar wrap arounds will slide ,so unless you have something to limit there travel ,again they would be useless in an accident esp, with stock seats which will compress if there is an accident, buy the bolt on one and just weld a tab on spine bar, or weld a smmall tube over the area the belts are in and slide the wrap arounds thru, but bolt ons are the best and safest, bob

Thanks Bob. When I bought the belts, I oredered both. So I have the wrap around on there now. But I aslo have the bolt on style if the other did not work out.
Should the tab be welded on the back of the spine bar or front?
I really hate to go back and weld on it again now that it's all done and painted.

Yes I did. They don't look to bad. I may call him today and get the guy's number. He got it done at a interior shop in Beach Grove.

What are you guys attacting the lap belt ends too? I am still trying to decide where to mount these?
I have the tab on the roll bar and floor hole mount, so now I need to take care of the lap belt mounts.

Now do you think I should do just one seat or both? I only need the drivers!
I have the lap belts bolted to the stock holes and a crotch bar in stock bolt holes.

I say if you have both seats in the car you may as well just do both!
