Default Must Optima's be enclosed?

I have searched and read numerous threads, and it seems that some say that any battery in the hatch area must be in an enclosrure, and some have posted that the Optima is a gel cell which must not be enclosed. Anyone know for a fact? I just want to go the local track and be able to pass tech. I want to mount it in the spare tire well. Thanks

BTW, is 2 gauge good enough, or should I get 1 or 0? thanks

Per NHRA rules, an Optima still has to be enclosed. Some tracks will let you pass without it being enclosed and some won't.
