Enclosed Trailor?
how many people here have enclosed trailors?
I was wondering how much a decent used one goes for these days.
I'm running out of garage space and storing the car in the trailor all the time would be nice to do, plus its cheaper than a storage unit in the long run!
Thanks guys

I have a Pace America dealer around the corner from me, and have been over there a few times talking to them about trailers. If you go new and depending on the model package, size, and options they range between 9K to well over 20+K... The one I am looking at but might not get for a year or so is 28' Rallye basic package with almost no options because I wasnt to set the lights and stuff up myself the way I want them, and they are about 10-11K...
Used you can find them around 5-15K depending on size, options and condition...

You can buy a 15 year old 24' clunker for 2500 or you can buy a 28' loaded with everything new for 18K, or 25K if you want aluminum
Just remember these are wide cars, drivers side escape door is a must unless you just winch the car in and out. I have a 26' now with remote winch and the escape door, if the wife comes with she can drive it in and get out of the car (cant opent the car door even with the escape door) and if I go by myself I winch it in because my fat *** cant get out of the car in the trailer
racingjunk.com, look under new and used trailers and you should be able to find something to suit you within 100 miles. Dont forget you need a good sized truck to pull it with unless you are close to the track and have no hills/mountains. Tyical steel 24' trailer plus one of these cars and tools is around 8000lbs so dont even consider anything with 3500lb axles like a lot of the cheaper ones have.

Here's where I found my new one: http://www.racingjunk.com/category/13/
They have used/new trailers; toterhomes, pullers, etc, etc. About every price range.. possible that is in your area.
I got a good deal on my 30' - has A/C, heat. Just look around. We also have/had a sponsor that sold trailer. Look to the right.>>>>>>

a million options, trailers can go up to $100,000 plus.
Get your must haves decided 1st, then debate on the new or used route.
Trailers seem to hold their value pretty good, so used ones don't go down that much around here.
A/C, heat, compressor, frig, winch, cabinets, generator ect ect get to be very expensive. You have to juggle several issues before pulling the trigger, look around, get what you need & can afford.
My 1 tip, which I didn't do, get the size you need 1st, I bought a trailer that was loaded, but too small after a few years. I should have got a bigger trailer and added the goodies later when I had more money. Don't overload a whimpy truck, dangerous and beats it up.

My parents trailer is a 30 ft. with a winch, we got it bare and one year old for $5,500 I believe.
We've just added cabinets and what-not slowly. I can't see dishing out 15k for a 28 ft. trailer. When I get an enclosed I'm just going to get a 24 ft. one with nothing in it since my parents has tools/golf cart/generator and other various tools.

I have a 24' with a winch and custom cabinets. Like KP said, you definately at least want a winch due to how wide these cars are. I had a open trailer before this one, and wow, that thing was a PITA to load the car on. with a 24' and cabinets up front, i still have plenty of room to move around up front, even when the car is loaded. We bought a little older one, but it was extremly well taken care of.
I also agree about the truck pulling it. It will make all the difference in the world for travelling. with the open steel trailer, we had a baseline 2006 f150, and it was a gut-wrenching experience pulling the car on that. I honestly felt bad for that truck putting it through that! Just make sure you have a good truck to pull, and you will enjoy it!

Trailers are always 'hot' property, just peel the VIN tag off and get a homemade title and you have an easy 1500.00-5000.00 on eBay. Mostly open trailers get swiped though since they are easy to pass off as home built but enclosed trailers get stolen all the time from people's driveways - bad idea to put 'XXX racing' on the side in big letters because thieves know there are tools at the least in there..
Invest in some good locks and dont be afraid to put the cables through the wheels, more of a hassle it is to steal usally means they will go down the road and find one that isnt locked. In Memphis years ago a freind had is 30 footer and car stolen in a hotel parking lot. Bastards just pulled the pin on the reciever and rolled it back with a floor jack and plugged it right into another truck, had it all on video but never caught the guys

We got the truck and now we are looking for the trailer. We are still tossing up between a Texas Roll-back(Very best Open IMHO) and a 28-30ft enclosed.
We had my car and tools in a 24ft enclosed to see how it all fit. It was just not big enough. There is NOT a huge price differance between the right trailer and one that is to small.
Get the right one the first time.
Only reason are we going back and forth is we have to recover Trucks to. hard to get e Duramax CCSB in an enclosed trailer

Yup we have checked our three times now. The lightest was 7,180 with no one in it and no gear just fuel. Add gear and it goes up fast. Ours is a 2003 GMC SLT D/A CCSB 4X4. Loaded open car trailer with LSx F-body Two people 1/2 tank and no race gear it was 14,740.
Still hard to believe over 5k on front axle Sure pulls like a champ after a little HPTuning
