Default Why shorten your rearend?

I have a question ive been reading around and why do yall shorten your rearends? I have a Moser 12 bolt already but noticed many shorten them. If you dont shorten it do you not need Mini tubs or does it matter on the size of the tire and wheel?

Search and you will find numerous threads on this. Basically a shortened rear = less weight, stronger axles, and a better selection of rims to chose from.

The rims are the best part.

Oh and you can tuck em in and make the car look like a badass.

also in the event that you want to do a mini tub and run REALLY big meat, you'll already have a rearend thats short enough to thow just about whatever rim/tire size combo at it.
