Default ASA + gutted cats = new best

Well I put on gutted cats and went back to Sacramento for heads up racing Sat. My times dropped an average of 2 tenths from Wed. And it was 20 degrees hotter on Sat. My new best is 12.78 at 114 Mph. Wed was a 12.909 at 114. Both were on 2.15 ish 60'.I know the mile an hour's were the same but it was 68 degress when I had a 114 mile and hour on Wed. It was 90 degrees when I ran the 114 on Sat. These times were both on street tires and stock manifolds. Oh and I won 6 out of my 7 races. My wins included a supra that was cabalble of 11's but the driver blew his run agianst me. He had a 1.5 reaction and a 2.34 60'. I beat him with a 12.81 at 114 to his 13.0 at 120 mph. And I also easily took down a 03 Cobra. But the guy did not know how to drive. He ran a 13.33 to my 12.8. My only loss was to a guy named Treynor and his Twin Turbo V-12 Mercedes. He ran a 12.2 to my 12.8. Later in the day he was in the 11's with that car.

If you know, was that the new 612 hp CL 65 AMG? That looks to be a stupid powerful/fast car. Congrats on your new times. You are haulin' *** through stock manifolds. I am thinking I'd like a reverse split cam with those numbers...236°/226°-230° with about .558"/.540" with the 110° LSA and 106° IC.
I wonder how that would run?

I believe it was. The car was amazing. It looked like any other big four door Mercedes but the thing ran like a bat out of hell. Total sleeper. And talk about a nice interior for a 11 sec car. :p As far as the cam profile I went with this cam on purpose for the low lift and the fact that it is designed by gm for stock heads. I wanted a cam that would not eat springs. I am putting a 100 shot of n20 next week and with tires that should be easy 11's and for now that is my goal. So the car sounds bad a$$, goes pretty quick, and I wont have to mess with my drivetrain for about 5 years.

Cool. I hope that I have a set of long tube headers by the time I can afford to jump into a cam change. So I think I will have plenty of exhaust flow, and the other reverse split cams like TR's 230°/224° seem to work well with stock heads. I just want one with a lot more bark at idle and that ASA cam is what I am looking for .
Good luck with the laughing gas........I think you will need some drag radials then !

To my knowledge Ben's car is a RenTech S600 with the TT V12. It is not completely stock either. Ben posts on my board Norcal-LS1.com and CaFords.com if you wanted specifics about the car.

Here is a video of me and him "racing". I saw it like that because I was sleeping at the light and was not supposed to run an 11 or I'd get booted for no 5-point harness. LOL

Ben put on a set of DRs for our Sat event and ran an 11.60
