Default Which 28"ish tire on 8" wide rim for 10.0s in the 1/4?

My car is currently down for a single turbo setup. The goal with the setup (eventually not right off the bat of course) is a 10.0 ET, something to shoot for at least.
I recently sold my 26" et street radials that I had mounted up on the summit star wheels. They are 15x8s, and I was planning on keeping them and running a 28" tire on them because I have matching fronts. I've narrowed it down to the MT radials in a 275/60, the hoosier DRs in 275/60, or the hoosier qtp dot's in a 27x11.5 or a 28x11.5. Which tire would I be least likely to 'overpower' with 600 rwhp or so, goal being a 10.0 ET, through a 4l60e? What about 600 rwhp through a th-400 with a t-brake? (maybe in the works for later this year, depending on how the 'built' 4l60e holds up). I was leaning toward either radial for street stability (this is a street car, not an all out drag car), and also less 'sway' and growth at the big end of the track.
I've thought about ditching the rears in favor of 15x10 prostars and dealing with banging the inner fenders, etc for 325/50 MTs, but I don't really wanna do all that if I don't have to. It looks good and I'm sure its effective, but really I just want the functionality and would like to stick with the 15x8s I have if possible. What do you guys think?

All of those choices will work.

I've been planning to take off the 28x10.5 stiffs on the Camaro and go to a drag radial, and have been considering the 275-60-15 MT DR's. I have the 325's on the Formy but I think they might be overkill for the Camaro.

I figured I couldn't really lose with any of them, but I wasn't sure about overpowering them.

I'm leaning toward the 275/60 MTs for the better tread wear than the hoosier DRs, and they're pretty consistent with them from what I've heard. There was a guy on the forum that went from high 1.5 60's to low 1.4s going to the MT 275/60s over some old school et street style tires. I'll probably go with these once they replenish stock in the new year...if you guys think they'll hold the power being a little more narrow than the average 28" tire.

I would run the m/t radial anyway, simply because I have never heard of anyone not hooking on them. I have heard horror stories about the hoosiers, I even know at the lsx race one of the hoosier radial clan went to my shop and asked if they could buy their old m/t's because they couldn't hook the hoosier for ****.

600 rwhp and a 4l60 is not gonna work, you will be eating that tranny up on a regular basis, so if you're even thinking th400, just bite the bullet and go for it. I did, and I'll never look back. Another thing, if you do get to 600 rwhp thru a th400 and a 4000+ converter, I can tell you now that you probably will be able to surpass your goals. I was running consistant 10.5x all season with 470 rwhp thru a th400, 5000 converter and a 12 bolt. With a 100 shot the car went 9.77, and a 150 it went 9.61 spinning a little... so do the math, you're looking at single digit's with 600 rwhp thru a th400.

Not sure if that matters, but it might save ya some $/parts if you aren't looking to go any faster then 10.0, or at least you won't have to lean in it very hard to get there.

Cool thanks for the tip on the tires. I'll stick with the MTs...

As far as the goal of 10.0s, the car's got a wolfe 6 pt in it and it's a street car. I don't really want to go to the trouble of a 10 pt cage, so thats why I mentioned 10.0s. Single digits would be nice, we'll have to see haha. 600 was just a round about number, it will probably make less with the stock 317s and 14 lbs of boost...but it should get close to my ET goal if I can get it to 60' with the th400. I'm thinking about selling the 4l60e and converter for some cash to start the th-400 setup now...

I've gone 10.008 with 550rwhp @ 3350 raceweight. Figure the locked dyno numbers with a 4L60E would have been more like 600rwhp or more as a comparo.
