gear choice, 12 bolt, H/C/Stall/N2O?
down to making my decisions on a Moser rear. I'd like a 3-channel 12 bolt. My car is a street/strip car that sees more strip. I dont want a spool and am leaning towards the Detroit Tru Track. my setup consisted of a 11.0 pass @127 spinning through the 60' on a 3.42 10 bolt. I am upgrading to 28" tires when I do the 12 bolt so factor that in. right now I am heads/cam/4000 stall/built trans/ and 150 shot of spray. I cross the traps just slightly before my 4th gear shift. (6300-6400ish rpms) Since I'm de-gearing with the 28" tires should I go 3.55 or 3.73 ratio and still finish the 1/4 in 3rd gear? the gear calculators dont work well for me since I am pushing the converters stall on the top end. thanks for the help

don't have it shift to OD no matter what anyway- it'll kill the trans from what i've heard.
if you plan on running the 28" tire all of the time then you can probably pull off a 3.73 gear. worst case you'll have to rev the car a tad higher in the top of 3rd but i'd doubt it would be much.

You can factor in the amount of rpm you turn now and the mph you run, then you'll see about how much your converter slips and the rpm you loose.
Then factor in the mph loss for the rpm you turn and subtract that from the gear you want to run and it should give you close to the true mph you'll run with that gear.
So if you're running 6500 rpm and 127 mph, but 6500 with your gear should be 133 mph you'll take the 6mph loss and subtract that to the tire/gear change and it should be close to what you'll actually run.
