Default TEA 1.5(5.3L)+TSP 231/237 Results (Cam only vs. H/C #'s provided)

Cam Only:_______________ 390 rwhp @ 6250 / 360 tq @ 5000
Cam + Heads:____________ 425 rwhp @ 6400 / 387 tq @ 5000
__________________________________________________ ____
Gains:___________________35 rwhp / 27 tq

Same dyno, different days, but similar weather.
Hot, 95 degree day in Miami.
Pleased with the results. Didn't break any records but the gains are significant enough.

Bolt ons are;

MTI lid, stock MAF (screen in place), Jantzer TB, UD Pulley.
SLP LT's, Gutted Cats, 3" True Duals thru Magnaflow 4x9's.
Moser 9", 4.11 gears, HD driveshaft, SPEC III.

I want to thank my friend Jesse for helping me put these heads on (and his parents for letting us use their garage 'till the wee hours of the night).

Edit: Here's the Flow #'s

lift int. ex.
.100 71.8 61.4

Thats a good increase in torque. youll feel that.

What do the heads have done to them and how much compression.

Are these off the shelf 5.3's, or hand finished?

Those are stout #'s through a 9 inch. Definately a 440+ car through a 10 bolt rear.

You would gain some HP/TQ swapping out those SLP headers for some Grotts or Kooks..

Those are the exact flow numbers I got for my heads. I have an auto and Hooker lt's true dual and F11. Only got 382/390 though. Now I am going with a new set of heads and cam and procharger. If I can ever get ahold of TEA and see what's up with my new heads I ordered.

I got these heads, New In Box, off an Ebay auction from a Member of this board.
They were also posted for sale here, but I beat JRP to the punch (hehe).
They did seem to have some hand touch-ups done to them, but other than that, they are your standard TEA 1.5's, from what I've been told.

Edit: I'm stuck with these SLP LT's for quite some time. Would love to get me some new QTP High Velocity LT's, but we can't have it all at the same time, can we (at least not most of us). Anyhow, my next purchase(s) would probably be 90mm LSX + 90mm TB.

great results man! Did you end up using those "cheap" gaskets I told you about? Since that car has an *** kicking rear under it.. stick some slicks on it and give it hell

Nice #'s Carlos, I will have to check it out on Wed. at Fudds. I wonder how much power the heat here in Miami zapped from the dyno? I am sure 11's are in the future with DR's like you want.

he should be in the 11s without a doubt. i think if he powershifted and had slicks on it, mid elevens are in sight. however, something tells me that now that you have every single bolt on, you are gonna aim at having a high ten second camaro since ambition is everyone's only problem here. the faster it is the faster you want it.
i think he has plenty of hp to take out anything out there. however, i wonder how much rwhp you would lose if you had a cat back??? i dont think there is a ls1 out there that can take you out motor to motor. however, most people dont have the budget you do. 425rwhp= very impressive, but how would 500rwhp feel against a viper?? see what i mean?? the more we have the more we want. the only problem i see in carlos's set up is that in order push more hp, he is gonna have to fork out alot of cash to create more hp if he wants to stay n/a of course. carlos, if i remember correctly you said you didnt want to use nitrous and i agree with you, but if you want more power and keep it affordable i think that is the only choice you have since superchargers are insanely pricey. i will say though that if your car had a blower boosting 8psi, it would be without a doubt a ten second camaro. damn thats sick.

Doh!, sorry once again, but I'm sure you'll be plenty fine with the ones you bought.

I had both the graphite (Napa) and the mls (GM) on hand. When I pulled my stock heads off and saw that mls were used from the factory on ('02), I used the mls. Also, the cleanup was very minimal. But, thanks for your info, it was very helpful.

Thanks Derek, Ah, yes, Miami dynoes aren't setting any records, but at least we have more selection these days (Thank Kelley Chevrolet). I'll see ya next week!

Hey, I hope to see ya around soon. Again, I built this car for me, not for beating others (although that could be a nice sideffect of the mods ). Peace.
