Default Th400 HP/TQ loss???

I dynoed my car the other day and was a little dissapointed, put down 384rwhp/356rwt but the TQ seems to drop off a lot on the big end, down to 300??? I know that TQ drops off up top but is that a "normal " loss? Also what's the average HP loss through the th400 compared to an m6 or 4l60?

haven't been yet, I am waiting til I get a rear end. I never took my old set-up to the dyno but it went 11.91 with cam and 4K stall, stock motor and trans. I was just wondering how much HP/TQ people were losing on average through the Th400.

This is something I was wondering for myself as well. But to be honest I am at the point now where I could care less what kind of numbers I make on the dyno, as long as it is tuned properly and puts down the MPH I want (143mph). I will be a happy person.

if the converter is correct youell prolly gain at the track. a th400 will prolly dyno better than an unlocked 4l60. i lost 30rwhp going from a m6 to th400 /stall. 335hp with m6 to 306hp w/th400.also, fwiw, i ran 11.9@113 with that 306rwhp in a 3500+lb car, stock internals.

I agree, dyno #'s don't mean jack to me as long as it performs at the track, I only went to tune the car.

Confuzed-That's an awesome time for the power and weight, what size stall were you running?

I forgot to mention... I am running a 4400 stall in the th400 for the GTO. Man does that big stall make it fun on the street. Too bad the car is up on jack stands in my garage.
