Mr. Wilbur had not purchased a G.M. vehicle in a decade, and traded in his Honda Civic hybrid to buy the Camaro.

He even gave up his California-issued sticker to drive in hybrid-only carpool lanes to get behind the wheel of his new muscle car.

Good article. I think it's an awesome idea that GM kept Bob Lutz.

Cool

Good news.
Saw a black one at Menlo Park Mall tonight (the first one I've actually seen moving (not just parked) in person) and the car is really hot.

I just read an article where Bob Lutz declares that the G8 is not dead and will be rebranded as a Chevy since the car is too good to waste. There will be a coupe version of the CTS-V and, based on that, I'm assuming that there might be a coupe version of the rebranded G8 (which should give the camaro a run for its money since not everybody is into the camaro hype and retro-styling).

I also hear the G8 will be a fleet "Po-Po" car to go against Crown Vic.

what do you think it will be? impala? G8 was essentially the next gen grand prix, so it would make sense to call it impala (or even monte carlo if its a 2 door)

It was all in the post below.

In my opinion, it wasn't conclusive that the Z28 is dead. Bob Lutz just hasn't confirmed that it will be made.

The G8 would make sense as an Impala. NASCAR is using real cars from the makers lineups instead of fiberglass bodied stock cars in 2010 to try and attract more people in the series, and also in the products(See link below). As of now, Fords entering the Mustang, and Dodge is doing the same with the Challenger. Only things that Chevy's still going to use the Impala. I don't like the 07 body Impalas, and if Chevy did the smart thing by using the G8 as an Impala the big 3 would have 3 bad *** cars. The Impalas never wowed me, but that would change my mind. Go NASCAR for making this decision. I'm going to start keeping track next year

Wow that is AWESOME news! I love it.
I only wish the Camaro body (or G8) was joining the other two.
Even if NASCAR stayed with the Charger/Fusion/Impala bodies across the board but just made them look just like the real cars again (like they used to back in the day) it would be pretty cool.

Wow. Interesting info. One of the main things that I always disliked about NASCAR racing was that the cars they used were "fake". Now, I'll have a little more respect for the sport. I'm just wondering why GM isn't using the camaro.

I like how it says up to $32,000 for a loaded v8 model. Thats going to **** some people off when they go to the dealer and find out the 1ss goes for about that with no options.

I fully agree with all of you. I can't wait for the transition, and I couldn't be happier with it. I know me and my friend are heading down to Richmond Speedway for their first race with them, and i've never fully watched a race or gone to one. Their ploy is definetly working on me
