Anyone know what happened to Numidia Raceway?
Does anyone in the PA area know what happened to Numidia Raceway?
The overview website was last updated last spring:
http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks/PA/Numidia.html
And the official website doesn't seem to work anymore:
http://www.numidiaraceway.com/
I've been somewhat out of the loop for awhile, but am planning on heading to the track a few times this year.
Being that I live near Hershey, PA.. Maple Grove is actually the closest track (just over an hour), but it's generally too busy. There's always something going on there, and I'm not into bracket or $ racing... Friday night's are grudge racing, but I'd rather go to a track where I can run on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon.
Numidia is about an hour and half away, so it's just a little further, but I remember it being a lot more low-key (even if the track prep isn't as good and the DA sucks because it's in the mountains). Does anyone know if it's still open and what the schedule is like? I could've sworn I remembered some discussion about it changing ownership, and the new people not wanting to open it.. or something like that. I'd call the track office, but I'd rather ask arond first.

Over the past few years it had closed, then a new owner had problem. The latest owner has been doing allot to improve the place and although I only started working and racing there last year I don't think there is an issue with prep. I heard people complain about how the place was in some past years. But my 60' and 330' are the same there as at Island and E-town. My ETs are a bit slower but I contribute that to the elevation.
There is a local F-body and we usually go Friday to run or just watch.
If you plan to come up jump on the http://xsorbit27.com/users5/goldenlugnut/index.php
and let us know.
Friday night is street legal racing: you can either run eliminations for cash and a trophy or just T~n~T. If you get eliminated from racing you can still run laps.
On Saturday, the early days are T~n~T but the Saturday night they run points. You can probably T~n~T as well but most likely won't get as many runs as normal.
Normally on a Friday night you can do 8-10 passes easy, maybe more if you get there when the gates open, on a Saturday allot more. Last Saturday there were about 60 cars, about 20 SuperPros that made a pass about every hour. But a few import guys ran so many laps I though I was at a NASCAR race! They had to make well over 30 passes!
Likewise on Sunday when we race points there are always a few cars there just testing.

Darron, you're alive! Planning on heading up to Numidia soon?
John, Darron is kinda familiar with the club. He's one of the original members of the SLFBA.
