the Acela can be expensive but is a nice ride. takes a little under 1 hour to go from philly to new york.
i know a company out in california is developing a magnetic levitation for the west coast. Japan has the world record for fastest maglev at 360mph! crazy thing about that french train is that its not a maglev, they are actual old school steel wheel trains
