Am I getting greedy?
My original goals with the car have been way surpassed which was to run high 10's.
Goals and achievements:
2004 12.xx@118.5, aquire turbo v8
2005 11.73@124.7, 6 spd, 67mm turbo, drive the car, intercool it, install Th400
2006 10.87@125.9, forged motor, 76mm turbo, goal was high 10's
2007 10.13@132.7, 76mm turbo started the year at 11.0's goal was mid 10's
2008 10.15@136.6, 80mm turbo goal is high 9's
I feel like I'm starting to get greedy with what I my car to do. I'm after a car that is very streetable that can run a high 9 sec pass with a th400. I'm pretty happy with the cars setup right now and the way it drives, but I want a few 9 sec passes now that I'm so close. My car consistantly runs in the 10.1-10.4 range on 1.60-1.75 60's at 134-137 mph. It seems like my 9 sec pass is just a 1.50 60' away. The car is already pretty bad *** and can pull liter bikes on the freeway and from a dig at the track. I'm trying to avoid the mod that broke the camels back and makes me not like the car any more. Am I asking too much?
I'm switching out converters to try and find the ET by getting the car to spool faster off the line since my current one is too tight. I decided to go with a PTC converter spec'd out by Dusty Bradford. I've heard great things about the converters he specs out so I'm giving it shot to see how it works.
The last few thenths of ET are the most expensive

High 9's always sounds better than low 10's, you are asking the wrong crowd. Of course you need to push it some more.
I'm running a PTC converter and have not done anything really notable in my car for the last year or more, but the converters are highly regarded.
60ft is a formula that is partly based on the actual power you make, how well you utilize that power, and how well you hook that power. You make 9 second power but the car is dead hooking on all passes you are not coming out on enough power which can mean you need more converter.

So up the boost another pound or two and you are already at 9s.or a bit more timing..bit leaner afr..or throw on a 50 shot of spray maybe..Heck you could just do some weight reduction and be high nines ..
a arms, lighter kmember, some crome moly suspension stuff..You are so close now its not funny. What about electric cutout..cheap and fun mod.

I know its beside the point, but go pretty much anywhere else (reasonable altitude) in the US and you'd be in the 9s...
Get that converter to work well with the 28s, restall it or whatever you have to do. Also might try some suspension stuff and get that 60' down - low 1.5s/high 1.4s and you'd see a 9.999 for sure.

you dont need to change a thing but where you race.
drive up to cali, click off a mid 9 second pass, go to Disneyland to celebrate like you won the superbowl and drive home.

BRO, You're are trippin. Your car has 9s in it ALLLLL DAYYYYY. Like already mentioned, run at Famoso in Bakersfield and you're there.......or just work on getting your 60' down and you're WAYYYY in the 9s. Shave 2/10s off that 60 and you're runnin 9.80 or better. That's not greed, its just that your car is past the point where every mod just helps you go faster. NOW its a matter of the right mod and right settings (suspension, tire pressure, converter) on your combo......plus seat time.

I've never run at any other track besides Vegas, I don't have a truck or trailer and will not risk getting stranded, so I have to run 9's in Vegas. It doesn't count unless I do it here.

Wait about 3 weeks til the Street car supernationals come to town and go to their test and tune at night. They prep the hell out of the track in Vegas for the SCSN... Or use a little nitrous on the trans brake.
