Default Quench question

So we are trying to obtain an ideal quench distance, but our question is what thickness gasket should we use. With our calculations it seems like we would have to use a really thin gasket such as .020, but is that too thin for such a build? We are also planning on supercharging this build.

4.127" Bore
4.0" Stroke
6.125"Rod Length
68CC Combustion chamber
.030" Piston to Deck (in hole)
-25CC dished pistons
44 ADV intake close angle
228 ADV intake duration
240 ADV exhaust duration
114 lobe separation
110 intake lobe centerline

Also, would like to keep compression around 9.5:1

That's about the best you'll be able to find unless you go with a plain copper gasket. That quench will be just about right if you decide to use any alky or alky/water mix injection. Otherwise it is a bit on the high side but still high-acceptable.

Why did you keep the deck so high? Most will get the deck down to either zero or maybe .010", then use more commonly sized gaskets to get the quench where they want it.

What kind of blower? Intercooled, other details? How tight do you plan to spin it commonly? Max rpm?

Is this an LSX block? What is your deck height currently? Piston sounds a little far down in the hole...

Yeah, .030" is down there a bit. back when I was looking for the thinnest multi-layer gasket, the best I found was .027" from Cometic, there may be more options now.

They told me .027" was their thinnest MLS just this last week.

Do it right and deck the block to get it where it should be.
