ive read this thread idk how many times to build confidence but never posted after i decided to pull the trigger lol
When i went boosted
1999 stock ls1 with ~105k miles
BTR springs
BTR Hardened PR's
Walbro 340 fuel pump
Siemen mototron 60# injectors
T76 front mount kit that retained A/C
Magnaflow muffler w/ a cutout
Never made it to the dyno but on 7psi and a conservative tune(11*timing) we maxed out the stock MAF so we figured it had to be making 525-550rwhp
One day decided to up the boost by a few turns, hit 11psi and it pulled VERY hard!!!
I beat on the car every day, the stock bottom end saw boost frequently everyday!
I ran it for about ~10k miles and ended up selling the kit because i was moving and needed the money... i regret it everyday

- Type of Forced Induction (Turbo/Supercharger)
on3 7875 turbo. No meth. CA 91 Oct pump
- Boost Amount / RWHP
No idea 5-10psi
- Miles on the car when FI installed
~200k on eBay 2001 LQ4 in 84 grand national. 100% stock long block except TFS springs and cam
- Miles ran since FI has been on the car (ie: current mileage)
<500 miles. eBay pushlok hose on oil drain split, lost oil, and spun cam bearing. Cylinders near bad bearing had bad scoring, engine had to be bored .020
Here is the format I'd like to see it in:
- Type of Forced Induction (Turbo/Supercharger)
On3 7875. No meth. CA 91 octane pump
- Boost Amount / RWHP
8-10 psi. 14 deg total timing. Never dynoed
- Miles on the car when FI installed
0 miles on rebuilt LQ4. Untouched Gen IV eBay rods. Untouched crank. Low mile used oil pump. Rock auto .020" over pistons .025" ring gap. No rebalance. ARP rod bolts. Ljms stage 1 cam kit. Ls9 head gaskets. China studs. Stock 317s and truck intake.
Switched to Russell 10an oil drain for turbo.
- Miles ran since FI has been on the car (ie: current mileage)
6-7k. No issues. 3 long road trips.no air filter entire time. Combo has been through the desert (Las Vegas) in 100+ degree weather. Car has also been through Kern River valley in the snow 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit. Lots of street runs/joy rides. Burned a new set of 15" radials to the bands.
I am posting my before and after experience because IF I did this again I would not hesitate to use all stock parts as long as went through them first and double checked my oil situation

Stock Long block 5.3 L33
LS9 Head Gaskets (Re-used a couple of times now)
Chinese studs
JFR 218/218 cam
PAC1218 springs
Stock everything else.
Stock PCM With HPTuners
Billet S475, 87mm 1.10 A/R T4
Ebay 4" Intercooler
93 Octane
70/30 Water/Meth, single 10 GPH Nozzle
Topped out both the turbo and 3-bar MAP around 28 PSI.
Made over 700 ft-lbs on wastegate (~15 PSI) on a Dynotech (Called the Heartbreaker dyno for its low numbers) and still climbing when tires started to spin.
Haven't been able to get solid HP numbers. ET Streets went up in smoke on the roller trying to get traction, and it shaved the tread off of the 18" Eagle F1 tires I tried. They were slick and look marbleized after a few pulls.
Turbo is being rebuilt now with a billet 80mm wheel. Need to squeeze more power out of the 3-bar MAP sensor. CNC heads are next. No desire to go anywhere beyond that since this a street car with no cage.
5000+ miles and 2 years of constant abuse. Have been over 30 PSI on multiple occasions.

I tried finding if I posted this or not and I don’t see it so here it is. ProCharger sent me a D1X to test and this is what it made on my SBE LS3. Still have yet to max this blower out. Previous blower was a D1SC.

I've been street racing it every weekend for the last 3 years, motor is fine. Knock on wood. I have a back up junkyard short block if this motor scatters.

This is from a close friend from a long time ago in 2002-2003.
02 SS with headers, cam, 1DSC on pump 93 he was making ,~560 whp on 7-8 pounds, race gas ~620 whp on ~10-11 pounds. Stock bottom end. Had less than 3000 miles when the car got the 1DSC. Engine lasted about 8,000 miles. Engine needed re-ringed at 11,000 miles. The car had the he'll beat out of it - it didn't break but it smoked a lot.
