Default 1 7/8 stepped 2" to 3 1/2" collector, 2 big for a 402 F1 procharger setup?

I've been considering some type of FI setup for some time now. I stood the car up almost on the rear bumper, with just a 200-220 shot (3500 lb car). It came down hard, cracked the oil pan flattened the bottom of the headers.

So, I have the opportunity to either stay with the Eldebrock stepped header 1 3/4 - 1 7/8- 3 1/2" collector. Which has been great the past 4-5 years.

Or go with the ARH - Kooks 1 7/8 - 2 - 3 1/2" collector.

No matter if I go FI or stay with what I have, I'd like to dump some of the low end TQ, to keep the nose down. Is the bigger header going to help out with the procharger F1? It should raise the TQ band up, correct?

Engine is a W2W 402 with AFR 225, Mamo Fast 90-90, T400. Thanks. Bob?

Sounds like a good setup. I don't think you can go too big on the exhaust with a SC. You're just trying to get rid of the exhaust gases as fast as possible with as little restriction as possible from what I understand. For comparison, I'm running a 427 with an F2 procharger and I have 2 1/8" headers all the way into a 3.5 merge then a dump.

I spoke to Nick at ARH, Tony Mamo and someone at Kooks and they all recommended against the 1-7/8 to 2 step... I'm 408, 9.4:1, AFR 225, and F1R. I'm straight 1-7/8 ARHs... But then again, the motor is built to spend it's load by 6500.

I wouldn't mind if the power carried out a few hundred RPM's, I just want to dump the down low tq, and no real way, that I can see to control the boost down low, to keep the TQ in check.

If it isn't going to be a big deal, I'd rather just buy Eldebrocks again.

In a n2o or FI application I don't think you're gonna drop enough TQ to make the difference between putting it on the bumper or not with that small or a primary change... The Prochrger will hit in a more linear fashion than a single stage 200 kit and if you have issues keeping the front end down your $ is better spent making a suspension, converter or gearing change.
