shimming valvesprings for seat pressure?

Default shimming valvesprings for seat pressure?

is this ok? could i shim a set off valvesprings that have 145lbs of seat pressure to about 155?

It's ok as long as you don't run into coil bind.

Coil bind +.060 + valve lift = minimum installed height.

In ordrer to determine your coil bind, you'll need to measure the actual lift at the rocker. It may not be a perfect 1.7 or 1.8 ratio. If you're going to get as close to coil bind as .060, I recommend you measure your true ratio with a dial indicator. Then you'll put the spring into the spring tester, run it to bind and back out your true lift, add in the .060 tolerance and measure your pressure at that height. If your pressure is good, shim appropriately. If not, buy new springs.
