Lets pick out some heads!! 408 iron motor
Ok guy's if everything goes as planned I should be getting my APS kit from JMBLOWNWS6 within the next couple of weeks. I'm going to be building up a 408 iron block, but i'm having a hard time deciding on some heads.
I've been looking at some 225 AFR's but i've also heard good things about trickflow. What do you guys think about maybe some ported ls7 heads, or would I loose too much boost with that big of heads? I would start a poll, but I would first need to narrow it down... All opinions welcome!
Forgot to add this:
What kind of intake manifold should I go with?

The better the heads flow, the more boost you'll "lose", but it's not a bad thing. If you put 10psi on stock heads, you may make the same power with 7psi on nice heads.
If you're on a budget, save money on heads and spend it elsewhere. Same goes with the manifold. If you don't have suspension, trans, rear end, track tires/wheels, I would go with some 317 heads, stock manifold/TB, then upgrade later. A slight restriction in the intake tract is nothing that an extra 1-2psi won't fix.
Now, if you're planning on running to the push water point, the AFR/Trickflows have thicker decks which are worth more than the added flow.

Its a stock t-56 with spec 3+
Rear is a 12bolt moser with 4.10s
I'm actually going to be putting my patriot heads up for sale here pretty soon. I cant use those because they're 59cc combustion chambers.
So what do you think then, trickflow, or AFR's? and specifically which ones? GRACIA!

I think at this point i'm leaning more towards some AFR 225's.
The only reason is that from what i've read they are capable of going higher than .600 lift unlike trickflow . unless that can be fixed with some different springs and what not.. I dunno

As Shawn said....TFS 235's from TEA (Total Engine Airflow) ask for Mike Schmidt or Brian Tooley great guys to work with. The TFS's have better mid-lift flow and a slightly altered plug hole for strength. The numbers in my sig were with off the shelf 225's!

I swapped to a smaller cam and my pushrod length was a bit off. I ended up ordering custom Smith Brothers pushrods after I checked the length and it smoothed my valvetrain out considerably. The pushrod length with the trickflows is a bit longer than the AFR heads I believe. Mine are 7.625 IIRC.
