Default LQ-4 Motor

How many of you are running an LQ-4 with your turbo applications for an f-body? I'm considering going with that motor for my front mount turbo setup?

I personally am not [sticking with 346 until I pass 700bhp, then going to an L92] but I've heard of many people using the LQ4. The stock CR isn't too high or too low, it's already prettygood for a moderate boost setup.

I've got a brand new LQ4 I got a hell of a deal on and a KBRacing front mount turbo setup with a Turbonetics BB 76 turbo. I haven't installed it into my truck yet, it's just sitting on a engine stand in my shop.

I would like to know about who has done this also. Its a route I am considering to take until I can get the money together for a built motor.

It's a pretty common route to go since there are so many LQ blocks around, so they're cheap. Car-Part.com FTW. Just say you're looking for an engine block for a 2003 Cadillac Escalade or something.

im doing the lq4 build too. Its a very popular turbo truck route. Get some arp rod bolts, and you can boost 12 psi all day with a good tune.

I ran a stock LQ4 with just a cam, stock springs and everything. I put rod bolts in it about 1/2 way through the 3rd year. S475 turbo on 12psi non-intercooled the whole time and it saw up to 16psi every now and then with a splash of race gas. Car (buick GN) got 24-26mpg and i put probably 22k miles on it with no problems

Sounds promising. I ordered the Patriot Gold spring kit and have the EPP cam going in the motor. Those ARP Bolts will be my next and should be last thing to order. I'll let you know.

Thank you, Chronicle, by the way. When I went on that site, found one with 13k for 1850.

I've got a t76mm front mount turbo going on my lq-4, which is going in my f-body.
