Default sts pump resistor

my pump resistor keeps failing and getting hot. since the pump is a 12v. is it alright to take out the resistor and run it straight.

Yep, the resistor is for running on the low speed, I think most of us convert over to just running it at the high speed which is a straight 12v/battery voltage. Do a search on the sts oil problem and you'll see alot more info.

take out the resistor...can't believe they still use it , or is your kit and older kit?

chcek out my build... trash that resistor and never go back. do you still have the kit T-tapped into the pcm wire? please replace that with a butt splice/connector so that it is a dedicated connection & not intermittent.

I assume you mean a scotch lock connector right?

This is a butt splice

That's what I plan on using when I hook mine up anyway. I'm not sure how you could have used a butt splice is why I'm asking. Kinda curious.

To the OP, I can't see why STS ever used a resitor to start with. It really never made sense to me. Just leave it out.

How can I use a butt splice? The wires are so small anyway that two fit into the one side of the butt splice and we then kremped down on it. voila, worked ever since and not had a single connection problem. I don't like that scotch lock.

I would never use a crappy scotch lock like that, I have better ones . I actually like your idea a lot better though. Thanks for the info.
