Default Stock Converter

So I am going to be build my Turbo set up in the next couple of months. I am wondering if I NEED to change my stock converter. I know the stock transmission will not hold the power i am going to make. I will be buying a th400 for the tranny, but that wont be for a couple of months, until i can get some more cash. my question is if the stock converter will work with the stock tranny on a boosted motor for a couple of months. I don't want to buy a 700 dollar conveter, just to replace the tranny months later. any help would be appriciated.

will it work? yes. Will it be ideal? no.

I ran a stock converter when I sent my yank back to be tightened up. Slowed it down, but didnt hurt anything.

Depends on how much power you end up making and how hard you beat on it. I would think that you would want to get something for the trans and converter once you switch. You dont want to balloon the converter and hurt the trans in the process.

Superman09 ran a stock converter with his 1st turbo kit in his Trans Am. If I remember correctly it pulled some low 1.8x 60's on 18" BFG DR's also.

With enough power it could push the crank forward and hurt the thrust bearing, I know because I had a CHEAP converter do that to me earlier this year.
