Help for a friend.
This is kind of off topic for LS1tech but I have a friend that needs help. I fill like the shop that he is going too has been screwing him for the last 2 years. He owns a TC (yes not a LSX) but he now has about 30K invested into it from what I fill is the shop raping him. First off he had them turbo the car, beef up the fuel system, and go to a standalone system. When he got it back I felt like the tune was off but they kept saying it was fine. 200 miles latter the motor went out on (low boost).
Now he has paid about 8K for a fully forged bottom with sleeved cylinders. The car should have been done about a month ago and last week I went up there to see how progress was going. The shop owner told me it would be done early this week.
Now over a week later the car is still not done and there is coolant is all over the out side of the motor. The shop is saying that one of the sleeves has “sank” in the engine and that’s why there is coolant on the outside of the engine?
To me this just makes no sense and to be truthfull I fill like this shop has been jerking him around and over charging him for the last 2 years. With the cost of the car the guy now has close to 50K in a car that he has only driven 200 miles in 2 years.
Sorry i know this is not a LSX once again and it might not be the right section but i know there are some guys in here that can help this guy out. It sounds like BS too me but i am still learning.

The first time the motor failed it was set on its low boost setting at 7 psi. The owner was getting ready to launch with his two steep on the cars first pass. The shop claims that the meth system started spraying while the car was on the two steep which caused the motor to hydro lock. The car was set up so the meth would only spray on the low boost setting with the gready boost controller and as a added safety should not have sprayed unless the motor was making at least 7 psi of boost.
This car made
250 hp on 7 psi
310 on 13 psi with meth
and was built and tuned by the same shop
two steep was set around 3400 rpms by the shop.

Yeap he got in way over his head when he started this and like most young guys wanted to go fast then and there. The shop milked him like cow for all this time. He told me the other day he wished he had just saved up and payed cash for a C5Z06 and taken the extra money and built one hell of vette. He also charged about 10K of it on a credit card and is still paying off the car .
