Unhappy Blown Head Gasket

It looks like I've reached my limit on pump gas, somewhere around 15 or 16 psi one of my gaskets went . Now what, I was using GM MLS gaskets, so I'm wondering what I need to do. Do I just get another set and keep rolling or do I need some special type of o-ringing or something done. I plan on boosting this this as much as it will take, what would be my best option?

Forged 383 bottom end, stage two 5.3 heads, dual gold valve springs, everything else is in the sig.

put some arp studs on it and mls gaskets. 15-16 psi is low for pump gass unless u have a very agressive tune. i ran 18 psi with out meth some times and no hint of water.

I'm using arp head studs already, I'm thinking about o-ringing the heads. I was thinking 15psi was kinda low too but I may have over boosted it a bit. I'm only running 13 degrees of timing.

Oh wow. hmm how much is overboosting it? Are u speed density? might have went lean on u . Oring will solve the head sealing problem but u may want to see why they lifetd in the first place.

Running olsd, I was thinking that was a possibilty also, only have a 2bar tune, so once it went past 15psi it was in no mans land. Looks like a 3 bar upgrade is in order, along with turning down the boost controller a notch or two. A new gasket may be all it needs, but I may do the o-rings for insurance purposes. I wonder how steel gaskets blow, do they just burn through or what?

I've never seen a blown head gasket on a FI ls1, but lots of blown pistons. You sure it's only the gasket? I hope so for your sake.

I'm not sure yet either, going to pull the heads and find out.

With all the antifreeze that was under the hood i'm sure it was a gasket that let go or either a hole in the block.

Well the anti freeze is a really good or a really bad sign then. Not much middle ground.

And you dont mention CR...so stating timing is meaningless.

It's unlikely its a gasket IMO.

Unless your CR is very high, 15psi shouldnt be a major problem on a well built engine

I used the 6.0 gaskets also, but I didn't use any copper spray. I started tearing down the motor last night. Antifreeze was blowing out from between the #5 and 7 piston. The gasket was still there, so i'm assuming its a warped head. I'll know once I get the head off. Where can I find some copper spray, do the regular parts stores sell it?

Yep running head studs and cr is high 10.8 to 11.1 thats why the timing is so low and only running 15psi. Between that and the pump gas is probably why the gasket blew.

lower the compression. Any power lost will be minimal, and the safety it will offer for more boost will be massive.
