F1 procharger with stock crank?
Im lookng at doing a partially forged 346 with an F1, just a lil short on cash for the crank, but i was wondering if the stock crank would work reliably with the F1 setup or should I just save a bit longer and get a forged crank?

MUSTANGBRK02 is somewhat right, but mine held up to 975rwhp with an F1R. But some have had some issues with the stock crank if everything isn't perfect, and the ATI pin kit won't work you will have to use the other one as it will just chop the pins off as I know from experience. So either double key it or get the other pin kit like the ones that come with the Magnacharger kits etc... You will have to grind down the fixture to fit inside an ATI balancer to make it work. You will have to use a spring tentioner if in an F-body or corvette not that you wouldn't have to for belt slipping reasons, but you will bend the stock cranks and even possibly a forged one by putting enough tension on the blower to keep the belt from slipping etc...

Thats one of the dumbest things I've heard all day. It doesnt matter what setup you run, It just needs to be well matched. If your looking to make a lot of power, it costs money. If you want to make 900+ rwhp...go with a forged crank seeing as how it will see 1050ish to the flywheel. If your looking for 800ish wheel, a stock crank will do. Dont chance breaking something and ruining the whole engine because you want to do it cheaper.

We built the above Corvette at the old shop (that is now closed) using a stock crank. It was at 16 psi and made 740 rwhp and ran up a lot of miles for several years on a road course. It saw more wide open throttle miles in one season than most cars do in a lifetime. If you add a Compstar crank you can safely run 20 to 22 psi of boost. Bob

I'm running a stock crank with my F1 setup. I did have a keyway machined in it though. When I built mine, the compstar crank was not available yet. Had it been, I definitely would have used it. But I have not had any problems with mine. I still am using a manual tensioner too.
