Default o-ringed block vs. gm mls

im looking for an 800 to 1k whp goal on my new twin turbo build. i see alot of guys using ls9 gaskets. do they really work to keep from pushing water vs having the block and heads o-ringed?

I'm one to always plan ahead because once you get used to that power you are going to be upping the boost. Mine is getting 1/2" ARP studs with the MLS gaskets so I will be checking that route out but the next block is getting oringed and a superdeck (overkill I know I like being safe) so I can run the car over 1K to the wheels. The car should be done here within the next couple of weeks so I will be able to give you more info.

i run an oringed block with mls ls9 gaskets, worked great up to 20psi on l92s. made alot of power, but in the end im switching to the gmmp ls3 6 bolt heads, You need the thicker deck around 900rwhp or so. unless you want to detune the car. the stock stud size isnt the problem, its the thin deck.

I have heard the same things about the deck thickness. I have a friend that killed a set of heads this way on a GTO with twins.

If going with a 6-bolt head and block with a thicker deck at what level is O-ringing needed? 1500hp+ 1800hp+?

thanks for the input. im trying not to switch to aftermarket heads for the thicker deck as they are a budget killer
