Default running a stock motored turbo car na

I know this isnt a ls question but i figured you guys could help

i have an 88 civic that is turbocharged and intercooled. recently the ecu fried so i had to replace it with a stock ecu and stock injectors. I cant afford to have it tuned for a few weeks at least and i dont want the motor to blow.

my question is this

between the throttle body and the intercooler there is 2 pipes with a coupler connecting them. can i disconnect the pipe from the intercooler to the coupler and just run a filter on the end of the pipe going to the intake, like a cold air intake would?

i am trying to keep the motor out of boost. are there any downsides or possible issues with allowing the intercooler to vent to atmosphere?

The only down side is that the IC is open to debris, bugs, etc. Just make sure that you blow it out real good before you hook it back up.
