Default GMPP Lsx376 how much power on the rods???

I was wondering how much power you could make on the gmpp lsx376 long block. It has forged pistons but has powder metal rods. Seems like the rods would limit the power or the 4 bolt ls3 heads, I can get it for a good price since I work at a gm dealer and has a 24 month/50kmile warranty so that's a plus. Anybody know or has used this long block?

Probably not that many out yet. I'm sure someone will grenade one soon. Kind of agree with you though. The rods do stick out as a potential weak spot.

Well it would be nice to hear about ppl running these long blocks...lol. It looks like gm just used the factory ls3 rods. Does anyone know how much power ls3 rods handle?

Nobody uses it because of the rods. Why spend that much when you can get a forged long block from a sponsor for the same $. I understand the warranty but I still wouldnt do it.

Why not ask Scat? They are the ones making this rod for GM.

Ditto. You can buy a purpose built boost ready short/longblock for the same coin and less weight if alum block that will handle much more power. Don't count on that warranty either, if you boost it then no more warranty. I doubt we'll see many guys running that longblock for boost; not a wise choice.

What's the compression on that longblock? If 10.0+then look at new pistons. Also, at that price, just buy it and upgrade the rods and do ARP hardware.

comp ratio is 9.0 with forged pistons. With a stock ls3 intake the motor makes 452hp n/a.

For that money, replace the rods, have it rebalanced and go.

I've seen this question asked before, but to me this whole thing seems off.....

Your engine's blueprint AND components need to fit the build, not just the components.

Do you get bearing clearances and all the other info? what if it's not right for your intended use? etc.

What forging are those slugs? Some forged pistons are only recommended for 6-800 FWHP (don't know the number, this is where your builder knows) due to material selection anyways.

Being that the bottom of the LS3 has shown to be well setup for moderate boost (say 700 proven over many builds/miles) where does this engine even fit in ???

Good luck with the project and have fun modding.

you can get an AES 327 longblock for around that price with ported 317's and guarantee it will handle alot more power then that motor. i would say a stock 6.0 can handle just as much power as that 376 since the rod's will probly be the first thing to go.

they will handle quite a bit, there is a guy on this forum with d1sc procharger lsx376 and a gt9 cam on pump gas making 750rwhp. i am sure they can take a bit more abuse, just look at a ls3 they are handling a lot of power right now.
