Default how much will a stock crank hold procharged.??

was up guys, well doing my build right now, i am going to be running a stock crank out of a 6.2 .... the motor is going to be forged piston and rods but the crank stock on a 6.2 block, i am going to be running an F1a with around 15 or more pounds of boost, my point is if the crank will handle.?? i really dont know how much hp is going to be making but i am going to be on E85 and going to be running a 4.0 pulley on the blower and a 10% overdrive on the crank (this is on a truck) so itll be close to maxed out, can anyone tell me will the crank hold the extra extress or should i just do a forged crank? i already have the pistons for it or else i would have gone 418ci but i dont feel like dumping 1000+ on a stock 3.622 but forged, thanks in advance

I have seen these cranks make amazing power numbers on e85.

I am sure you have a solid platform and just ease up the boost..

Actually i havent seen a broke crank..just pistons...good luck bro

I'm going to be running a pair of ebay GT45s on my 6.2 and I'm seriously considering keeping the stock crank to save some money. Then again, a 416cu will make more more.

Its a different game with a blower though, and I would not run a stocker above 900 on a blower. turbo yea no problem, but there is too much stress on the snout with a blower.

I was too was worried about my F1A and the crank snout. I've maxed out the blower with no problems. Make sure the snout it is keyed well. As far as the overall "reliable" strength, I'd say 1000rwhp with a blower and a little more with a turbo.

Uhhhh makes me happy lol ... I really dont want to was all this money i am wasting and have the crank as its weak link .... So a stock crank with a blower could hold up 1000rwhp ... But how long??

I kinda have the same boat as you, forged everything except stock crank on a 370 LQ9. My engine builder (LME) said that I could push to 1000rwhp turbocharged, but he said he wouldn't recommend doing that alot, and that I should stay around the mid to high 800's range, and I would be fine.

I've been running 830+rwhp/18psi on my stock crank 370 for a little while now. Also remember the tensioning system will play a key factor. I use the Aster setup which with the auto spring tensioner, doesn't put nearly as much stress on the crank snout as a very very tight manual tensioner will. I plan on putting my new blower on and seeing what she can do...I'll most likely go direct drive for this though.

This Corvette ran hard for several years on a road course with a D-1SC at 16 psi of boost on the stock crankshaft, so problems at all. We then built another engine for the car and jumped up to an F-1C. Bob
