Turbo cam dead horse thread
I know its been beaten to death but im stuck between just throwing in a stock ls1 cam or sucking it up and getting a tu1. Its a 383, ls1 intake, turbonetics 78/75, forged bottom end, 317s, trying for 600whp. Does it matter at that power level or am i just driving myself nuts for nothing.

I think your driving yourself crazy. although i do think if you can get a ideal cam for your setup youll optimize your potental . i dont think its life or death.
Look at it like this. if you do all this work get on the dyno (since your goal is specific numbers) wont you be a little erked if you push it all you feel safe doing and you make 592 ?
I personally ran a stock 370 shortblock with ported 317s and a "non turbo" cam
228/230 576/595 112+4 i made 630rwhp through a 4l80e
Switched to a 402 shortblock and , "turbo" cam 230's dur 600's lft 115
Same boost same everything i made 680. my goal was a 9 second street car so i was swithcing to the aluminum block vs the iron so was happy but if i was you i wouldnt beat my self up over it.
but i also didnt go from stock to turbo cam so im not sure if thats a fair comparison
