Ms4 with boost
Has anyone ran a ms4 cam on a boosted car? If so how well did it work, did it spool ok? It's in a stock headed 99 ls1. I know it's not the perfect cam but I want a really nasty sounding cam. I can worry about a cam swap later when as I plan on building a 370 for boost.

Well I just stuck a XER287 in my 313ci ls Twin turbo. Its similar to a MS3. Should have it running soon ill let you know..
And who gives a rip if someone says it wont work have they tried it. If its already in your motor try it if you dont like it change it. Hell Ive tried 10 different cams in the same LS motor just to see if what people say is true most of the time it is but Ive been suprised more than once.

It'll make power but as you know its less then optimal. The problem with the "nasty" sounding cams in boosted cars is what usually makes them sound sick is what makes them bad for that application(in most instances). Overlap and low LSA are killers for boosted engines.

I know it is not the perfect cam by any means. I just wander if it will be hard to spool. The turbo I have is a gt4276 t6 flange 1.22 ar. Once it get spooled I don't care if it bleeds off some I can just throw more boost to it.

There are a lot of turbo cams out now that work well and offer the choppy idle.
The MS4 is overkill for most but would work okay with a turbo with a large turbine. Not sure how high you want to spin the motor but that cam will come on hard 6K plus I would recommend at least a LS6 intake, even better would be a pro flow or high ram. A high stall in the 4500-5000 range should keep it in the power band. ARP bolts on the bottom end should help it live a little while at high rpms.
A cheaper option would be to pick up a TU2 cam or if it's a track car get up with Martin at Tick Performance and he will hook you up with a custom grind.

Thanks guys. I already have a pro flo intake going on it and I will be spinning it to 6900 to 7100 range. When I build a 370 I plan on having tick do a custom grind for me.
