Default radiator location

To those who have mounted thier radiators vertical without removing the top support and kept the lower one. What is the best stuff to use ove the metal edges so it doesn't rub a hole in the aluminum rad. Also where have you got it. I planned on maybe finding some stuff in the window area at lowes but I'd Like some suggestions... Thanks.
